Amazon Web Services CEO to step down

Amazon’s cloud computing unit, Amazon Web Services (AWS), will see a change in leadership as its current CEO Adam Selipsky steps down next month. Matt Garman, currently vice president of sales, marketing, and global services, will take over as AWS CEO starting June 3. AWS is a significant part of Amazon’s profits, comprising nearly two-thirds of the company’s overall earnings. With annual revenue surpassing $90 billion last year, AWS is larger than many standalone companies. It faces fierce competition from other major players in the cloud computing industry, such as Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure. AWS sales have grown more than 85% under Selipsky’s leadership.
